Recording customer flow patterns
When employing ShopperResearch for surveys, trained observers use a portable tablet PC with a floor plan of the store to keep a record of activities ranging from customer flow, traffic movements, orientation behaviour and dealings with products through to the act of purchasing. The customer events to be observed and the differentiation of the details examined in this process (display islands, shelving level) can be defined freely by the client.
Setting up the study involves a relatively low input – it merely requires importing a sketch of the floor plan for the store without great programming effort. After the survey, the data are available for analysis immediately without any time required for encoding or conversion (as is the case for example with video or RFID data).
